MY THERAPY

HUMANISTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY

Humanistic therapy focuses on the whole person; not only from the therapist’s point of view but from the viewpoint of the individual observing their own behaviour. There is something extraordinary about really being heard by someone and the felt sense of being able to embrace your unknown self.

The focus of my practice is on developing self-awareness and growth within a wholly accepting and non-judgemental environment; for me therapy is all about connection and trust. By providing a safe, confidential and calm space away from the busy engagement of our lives, thoughts and feelings can be explored, examined and where necessary challenged. I work in a creative way built on my life experience as an artist and compassionate vegan as well as my work as a specialist speech and language therapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor.

My work focuses on both problems and situations in the present day as well as on chronic or recurrent problems.

I have an Advanced Post-Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Brighton University and work in private practice. I have retired from the NHS where I had worked as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, assessing people for Autism.

MY THERAPY ROOMS

I work from home and have two therapy rooms. One room is large and colourful, but for those wanting a ‘less busy’ space, I also have a small room up stairs.

Yes I work the standard 50 minute therapy session model, either in person or online but some of my clients need something different due to various reasons. Therefore, I also have a therapy dog who can be present during sessions (a Black Lab) and sometimes I work outside walking with clients. I have also, where needed/appropriate, met with clients in venues other than my usual therapy venue to help with de-sensitisation.
